Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (UMSIDA), one of the Private Universities located in East Java, is now growing very rapidly. Umsida is committed to become a superior and innovative university in the development of Science, Technology and Arts based on Islamic values for the welfare of society.
Umsida, as a provider of education and professional teaching, continues to manage and develop human resources by increasing research and community service so that it can play an active role in the nation’s development process, giving birth to graduates who mastered science, technology and art based on Islamic values.
Umsida is fully aware that he is an integral part of the global community, therefore Umsida continues to enhance cooperation and consolidation with various institutions both at home and abroad. The effort has been made since 1984 so that Umsida can synergize in the development and improvement of institutional governance. Therefore, starting 2012 and then Umsida has 4 campuses. Campus I is located at Jalan Mojopahit 666 B Sidoarjo; Campus II is located at Jalan Raya Gelam no. 250 Candi, Sidoarjo; Campus III Ma’had Umar Bin Khattab is located in the Housing Complex IKIP V / 1 Gunung Anyar District, Surabaya; and Campus IV is located on Jl. Raya Rame 4, Pilang Wonoayu, Sidoarjo.
To improve academic quality, UMSIDA continues to develop lecturing and laboratory facilities that are respresenting and conducting research, community service, and improving the quality of lecturers. Currently Umsida has 200 permanent lecturers with master education qualification (S2), Doctorate (S3) and professors (Professors) from various universities both public, private domestic and foreign. In addition, 40% of them are professional practitioners. This helps Umsida link and match with other companies, institution, and government. On the other hand, Umsida is also supported by 140 administrative staffs and technicians who are experts in their respective fields. Everything is provided to serve prospective students for the smooth process of teaching and learning.
UMSIDA is supported by 5 offices, namely: Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Quality Assurance Institution (LPM), Language Institute, Public Relations Institution, Cooperation and Protocol (LHKP) and Institute for Development and Improvement of Education (LP3). It is also completed with several study centers, namely: Center for Studies of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan, Center for Regional and Policy Studies, Center for Environmental Studies, Women’s Studies Center, and Center for Entrepreneurship Studies.
In addition, UMSIDA also has several Units (UPT) namely: UPT for Data Center and Computer (PUSDAKOM), Library, Publication, Admissions (PMB) and MKDU. In addition since 2011, UMSIDA has established a Business Center located on Campus II.
Currently UMSIDA educates more than 5,000 (five thousand) students from various regions in Indonesia, from Aceh to Nusa Tenggara even from abroad such as Malaysia and Thailand. It is this diversity that makes studying at UMSIDA more dynamic.
To facilitate student self-development, UMSIDA provides student organizations, such as: Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), Student Executive Board (BEM) from university level, faculty, to departmental level. In addition, there are also various extra campus organizations.
The graduates are gathered and trained through alumni organizations, including Center for Career Planning (CCP) UMSIDA. The goal is to develop and expand job market information to assist student job search in general. In addition, other programs that can support these activities are the KBPK program (Business Consultancy and Work Placement), Entrepreneurship Internship (MKU), and Entrepreneurship Lecture (KWU).
In order to develop institutional and academic, and empower alumni, UMSIDA also runs cooperation with various government agencies and private institutions both domestically and abroad, for example by AMCF (Asia Muslim Charity Foundation), University Utara Malaysia, and SEAMOLEC (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Center).
