Appearing Different, Communication Studies Students Umsida Live Street Vendors In This Way
Umsida.ac.id – Departing from concerns about the high dependence of the community on plastic, students of Communication Science Umsida were moved to carry out reforms in the Baran, Winong, Gempol, Pasuruan (8/9) hamlets. Through the Field Work Practice (PKL) program that is being undertaken, these eleven students are eager to change the mindset by approaching the community. Muchammad Miftahur Rizky, one of the PKL participants, said, “So this is Agustusan’s theme, we take advantage of the spirit of nationalism to create thematic villages through media arts performances or various village nights,” he said.
In the night of the village variety, the students held an art performance from the children of the local village and held an event to watch together on the plastic island film. This film was chosen because it was felt in accordance with the concept that was carried namely to reduce plastic waste. “After watching together there is a minimal trash bazaar, this is interesting because we carry a different concept than usual, there is educational value in it to return to old habits by using environmentally friendly bunngkus,” added the student who is familiarly called Bara.
Furthermore, bara explained that although it was difficult to change the mindset of people who were already dependent on plastic, it was not impossible to restore it as long as every part of the community was aware of the dangers of plastic waste that were not handled properly.(Real)
